I bought this HarvestOct robot camera hoping it would be a fun way to keep an eye on things around the house, especially with my grandchild visiting. At first, it was a novelty—the way it moves around on its own and responds to hand waves is interesting. But after a couple of months, the initial excitement wore off. The problem was that it didn't offer much beyond entertainment; I needed something more practical. The solution was to use it mostly for basic monitoring, but the connection issues made it frustrating. My takeaway is that while it has some neat tricks, it's not a must-have and feels overpriced for what it delivers. I'd only recommend it if you're looking for a toy, not a reliable tool.
- Pros: It seems to handle well on smooth floors and the way it avoids obstacles is quite clever, saving me from worrying about it bumping into things. Controlling it from my phone is straightforward, and the gesture feature works decently for simple commands.
- Cons: The dancing and music features feel too gimmicky and not very useful for my needs. The connection can be unreliable at times, dropping out unexpectedly, and the overall build seems a bit flimsy for the price.
