as a budget-conscious guy in houston, i picked this up hoping for a reliable dash cam without breaking the bank. i've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and overall, it does the job. the wide angle is great for catching all the action on these busy texas roads, and the automatic saving feature has already come in handy once when someone cut me off. but, reality hit when i tried to use the wifi to view footage on my phone—it's not as stable as i'd like, and i had to fiddle with it more than i care to admit. night driving is better with it, but don't expect miracles in pitch black. it's a solid choice if you're not too picky, but it's got its quirks. :)
- Pros: the view from the camera is incredibly wide, so it feels like i can see almost everything around the car without missing a beat. when something shakes the car, it saves the video right away, which is handy. at night, it still picks up details pretty well, and the screen is sharp for checking things later. having that extra view from the back makes reversing a lot safer.
- Cons: it seemed to me that the connection to my phone can be a bit finicky at times, dropping out when i need it most. the night vision isn't perfect and can make things look a bit grainy in very dark spots. for the price, i expected a smoother setup without so many little hiccups.
