as a builder and a bit of a life-hacker, i was excited to add this to my xiaomi collection. delivery was quick, and i've been using it for over six months now. it's mostly reliable, but there are moments where it feels a bit finicky. for instance, i set it up on my back door, and it works great for automating the porch light, but when i tried integrating it with a non-xiaomi hub, it was hit or miss. the irony isn't lost on me—here i am, loyal to the brand, yet a tad disappointed it doesn't always deliver on the seamless experience promised. still, for the price and what it does, it's a decent addition to my smart home arsenal. just don't expect perfection.
- Pros: it hums along nicely with my other smart gadgets, making the whole setup feel more integrated. i love how it automatically turns on the lights when i open a door—no more fumbling in the dark. the alert for movement is a solid security boost, and it's extremely easy to install, blending into my home without a fuss.
- Cons: could be wrong, but the alerts can be a bit delayed sometimes, and it doesn't play as well with some older systems i have. the range for detecting movement isn't as wide as i'd hoped, so i had to reposition it a few times. also, the alarm sound is a bit weak—wish it was louder to really scare off any intruders.
