Decision:

I went into this expecting another 'smart' gadget that's anything but, but FYUU-autoparts has mostly delivered. It's not perfect, but it's close enough that I don't regret the purchase. The irony of automating something as simple as opening and closing curtains isn't lost on me, but here we are. It's quite satisfying to tell my house to let the sun in and have it actually listen. If you're on the fence, it's most likely worth the plunge, especially if you're already invested in a smart home ecosystem. Just don't expect it to read your mind... yet.

• Pros: The setup was surprisingly straightforward, no need to call in a favor from a buddy who 'knows a guy'. It plays nice with my existing smart home setup, which is a relief because I've got enough tech that doesn't talk to each other. The quiet operation is a game-changer; my wife hasn't complained once about noise, and that's saying something. The ability to schedule the blinds to match my routine is quite handy, and the voice control works as advertised, which is rare these days.
• Cons: The app could use a bit of polish; it feels like it was designed by someone who's never used a smartphone before. Also, while the motor is quiet, the chain isn't exactly silent, especially in the dead of night. I was hoping for a bit more customization in terms of scheduling, but it's pretty basic. And, of course, the price is a bit steep for what it does, but that's the smart home tax for you.
